The month of August will be jam-packed with them, beginning with one of the largest and most popular ones; the Texas International Fishing Tournament! It will be celebrating its 79th year and begins the first weekend of August!
This grand event will take place in the gorgeous Laguna Madre and Gulf of Mexico waters. Around 1,500 fishermen are expected to attend and more over 500 different boats will come out to saltwater fish for this epic weekend. Even the youngest of anglers will have a place to compete, making this an event for the entire family to enjoy!
For the ladies out there, the 37th annual South Padre Island Chamber of Commerce Ladies Kingfish Tournament will be held from August 10th through the 12th. With two grand winners, Grand Champion Bay contestants will fish for trout and flounder while anglers in the Offshore Division will fish for king, bonito, blackfin tuna and dolphin for the Grand Champion Offshore trophy.
